Type locality: Corral, Valdivia province, Chile; (Silva & al. 1996: 473) Lectotype: Lechler; PC; (Womersley 2003: 366) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Prud'homme van Reine & Sluiman (1980: 325).

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
This is apparently not a widespread species in southern Australia, occurring mainly under fresh-water influence in central Victoria and SE Tasmania (Womersley 2003: 366).
