Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Paraphysomonas is Paraphysomonas vestita (A.Stokes) De Saedeleer.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepidochromonas butcheri (Pennick & K.J.Clarke) Kapustin & Guiry.

Type locality: "Occurred as a contaminant from a culture isolated from a sample collected from a salt-marsh pool, estuary of the River Stour, Essex, by R.W. Butcher.
