This is a marine species.
Type locality: Tsuyazki, Fukuoka Prefecture. northern Kyushu, Japan (Kawaguchi, Wang, Horiguchi, Sartoni & Masuda 2001: 435). Holotype: S. Kawaguchi; 6.4.1989; SAP 088175 (Kawaguchi, Wang, Horiguchi, Sartoni & Masuda 2001: 435).
Asia: China (Zeng 2009), China (Hainan Island) (Titlyanova, Titlyanov & Kalita 2014, Titlyanov et al. 2015), Japan (Verlaque et al 2005), Korea (Lee 2008, Lee et al. 2009), South China Sea (Phang et al. 2016).
This species has been introduced accidentally, probably via oyster cultivation, into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 169) being first found in the Etang de Thau (France) in 1984. - (5 Nov 2015) - M.D. Guiry
