Type Information
Type locality: "Habitat in littore Lancastriensi sed rarius"; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Hudson specimen in Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew but this cannot be regarded as a holotype (Dixon, 1959).
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), fern-like (Stearn 1973).
