Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Polysiphonia is Polysiphonia urceolata (Lightfoot ex Dillwyn) Greville.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Kapraunia morroides (B.Kim & M.S.Kim) Savoie & G.W.Saunders.
