Type locality: Mexico: Hidalgo, Municipio de Atotonilco el Grande, Atotonilco el Grande Formation (20º 18.290'N, 98º 46.865'W). Early-middle Pliocene; (Caballero, Khursevich & Velasco de León 2009: 29) Holotype: 1,650 m asl, in the laminated sediments of early-middle Pliocene age ; MEXU; slide MEXU 1859 (Caballero, Khursevich & Velasco de León 2009: 29, fig. 4) Notes: Isotype: MEXU 1860 and MEXU 1861.
