The type species (lectotype) of the genus Delesseria is Delesseria sanguinea (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Polyneura bonnemaisonii (C.Agardh) Maggs & Hommersand.
