The type species (lectotype) of the genus Halymenia is Halymenia floresii (Clemente) C.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Felicinia spathulata (J.Agardh) Le Gall & Vergés.

Type locality: "a profundiori maris Galloprovinciae rejectam" [French coast of the Mediterranean Sea] ; (Le Gall et al. 2018: 343) Lectotype: LD; 22382 (Le Gall et al. 2018: 343, fig. 2) Notes: legit Solier (Agardh 1842).
