The type species (lectotype) of the genus Callithamnion is Callithamnion corymbosum (Smith) Lyngbye.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Aglaothamnion confertum (Womersley) Cormaci, G. Furnari & Alongi.
