This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Apoglossum spathulatum (Sonder) Womersley & Shepley.

Type locality: "ad oras occidentales Novae Hollandiae" [Western Australia]; (Sonder 1845: 447) Notes: "Type from Georgetown, Tas. (Harvey); lectotype (Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 272 I), in Herb. Harvey, TCD." (Womersley 2003: 40).
