Type locality: Off the Alaskan coast in Chukchi Sea (71º20'N, 156º40'W); (Kaczmarksa & Jahn 2006: 157) Holotype: Dr. Christopher Krembs; February 2001; From 10cm long sea-ice chunk; Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem, Germany; SEM-Preparation No. B 400 040 258 ex culture (Kaczmarksa & Jahn 2006: 157) Notes: Further original raw material includes B 4000 042 259 SEM- and B 400 040 260 LM- preparation. Isotypes: Preparation CANA 79393 (Canadian Museum for Nature, Ottawa, Canada) and preparation BRM Zu6/01 (Hustedt Collection, Alfred Wegener Institute, Bremerhaven) ex culture.
