Type locality: Port Phillips Heads, Victoria Australia; (Huisman 2006: 95) Holotype: J.B. Wilson; 28 Feb 1882; Herb. Agardh, LD; 32207 (Huisman & Womersley 1994: 101) Notes: Huisman & Womersley (1994: 101) notes that specimen 32208 in LD was collected on 5 January 1888, after the description.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), moniliform, cylindrical but contracted at regular intervals like a string of beads (Stearn 1973).
