Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Corallina is Corallina officinalis Linnaeus.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Corallina berteroi Montagne ex Kützing.

Type locality: 2.5 miles north of South Bluff, Isla Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico; (Dawson 1953: 131) Holotype: E.Y. Dawson; Dec. 20, 1949; Intertidal rocky shore; HAHF; Dawson 8534, on sheet 54947 (Dawson 1953: 131) Notes: Miller & Hughy (2024: 182) note "Dawson (1953) described Corallina polysticha from Isla Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico. The holotype (HAFH 54947, Dawson 8534, 20.xii.1949), may have been in UC, but is now missing, according to the Index Nominum Algarum (2022) and recent searches."
