Type locality: Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, Oklahoma, USA; (Henley & al. 2004: 650) Holotype: Ephemeral variably saline pool or soil ; Botany Department herbarium, Oklahoma State University; (Henley & al. 2004: 650) Notes: Holotype: A sample of cultured cells collected on a GF/F filter and attached to a herbarium sheet. Live cultures have been submitted to the culture collection of the University of Texas at Austin (UTEX 2795) and Culture Collection of Marine Phytoplankton (CCMP 2329), Bigelow Laboratories (Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, USA.
