Paratypes: PC, unnumbered, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym); BM, algal box collections 306, 328, 861, 1044.

Origin of Species Name
Participle B (Latin), alternating (Stearn 1992).
