Currently accepted name for the type species: Kuckuckia spinosa (Kützing) Kornmann

Description: Heterotrichous thallus organization; erect filaments branched with lateral and terminal true hairs; juvenile hairs with a basal sheath. Plurilocular sporangia develop by transformation of the apical part of short laterals. The erect thallus may show sympodial branching (see Polytretus for further details). Each vegetative cell contains ribbon-shaped chloroplasts.
