Description: Cells grouped into loose colonies. The individual cells are spherical, with parietal, slightly lobed chloroplast with a pyrenoid. Cells usually divide into two daughter cells that are held together by the remnant of a mother cell wall. By such divisions, loose, hollow, racemose colonies are formed. Asexual reproduction by specific immobile zoospores bearing stigmata, but without observable flagella.
