Description: Thallus small prostrate with simple or branched erect axes, ecorticate. Procarps on subapical cells of fertile axes. Carpogonial branch 4-celled on one (supporting cell) of 3 pericentral cells. Auxiliary cell, cut off from supporting cell, leading to development of carposporophyte with sympodially produced carposporangia. Fusion cell stellate. Pericarp of filaments embedded in gelatinous sheath. Spermatangial heads terminal on short lateral branches. Tetrasporangia on stalks lateral on axes, tetrahedrally divided.

Comments: Widespread on warm to temperate coasts, epiphytic and in rock pools.
