Monotypic when first introduced. - (23 Jan 2017) - M.D. Guiry

Description: Flat, thin, subdichotomously branched. Stipe short. Holdfast discoid. Fleshy. Medulla of interwoven filaments. Cortex of anticlinal files of subspherical to elliptical cells, progressively smaller toward cuticle. Female and male reproductive structures undescribed. Tetrasporangia cruciate, in rounded nemathecia near apices.

Comments: Subtidal. Endemic to the Mediterranean Sea. This genus may fall within Cryptonemia; however, the distinctive tetrasporangial nemathecia provide sufficient reason to keep the genus separate until further studies are done
