The type species (holotype) of the genus Pedobesia is Pedobesia clavaeformis (J.Agardh) MacRaild & Womersley.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pedobesia simplex (Meneghini ex Kützing) M.J.Wynne & Leliaert.
