The type species (holotype) of the genus Enteromorpha is Enteromorpha intestinalis (Linnaeus) Nees.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ulva flexuosa Wulfen.

Adjective (Latin), with tubes, approaching a hollow cylinder.
