This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Antithamnion densum (Suhr) M.Howe
Type locality: La Jolla, California (Dawson 1962: 21). Type: Gardner No. 5090; July; epiphytic on the stipe of Pelagophycus porra. UC 296663 (Dawson 1962: 21). Notes: Dawson (1962: 21) notes that there is an isotype located in Herb. A. Hancock Found.

Adjective (Latin), pygmy, dwarf (Stearn 1985).

According to Dawson (1962) a single dried collection from the northern Gulf of California, D. 185-40, seems to be this species but is too poorly preserved for positive identification.
This is a marine species.
