The type species (lectotype) of the genus Liagora is Liagora viscida (Forsskål) C.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Macrocarpus walkerae (Husiman) Huisman & Showe M.Lin.

Type locality: Cassini Island, Western Australia, Australia; (Huisman 2002: 783) Holotype: D.I. Walker & S. Montgomery; 29 Nov. 1996; intertidal reef at low tide; PERTH; 07141378 (Huisman 2006: 73) Notes: Originally listed as UWA by Huisman (2002); subsequently moved to Perth. Isotypes: UWA (Huisman 2002).
