Type Information
Type locality: "Sur Ceramium rubrum, à très basse mer. Automne. — RRR. — Querqueville (M. Thuret)."; (Le Jolis 1863: 107) Lectotype (Belle-Île-en-Mer, Brittany; designated by Dixon & Irvine (1777: 88): (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 88) Notes: Dixon & Irvine (1777: 88): "Holotype: cannot be located; it would seem best to typify by the illustration given by Bornet & Thuret (1876), Pl. V [figs 1-11] (see Dixon 1977). France (Belle-Ile-en-Mer)." This is essentially a lectotypification with an iconotype; however, the application of this is to be questioned as a different host (Helmithocladia vs Ceramium) is involved and a different location (Belle-Île in Brittany and Querqueville in Normany).
