This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cratericulifera crinigera (H.Takano) Ashworth, C.L.Li, H.Suzuki & A.Witkowski.

Type locality: "Tokyo Bay, Japan"; (Takano 1983: 29) Notes: "This diatom was found in seawater collected from the downstream of the Sumida River nearby the Tokai Regional Fisheries Research Laboratory on March 16, 1982, ...". "Iconotypus: Fig. 2, 3 and 20."
