Type locality: Samoa; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype (Schmidt 1875, pl. 25, fig. 7): (Danielidis & Mann 2003: 32, fig 33) Notes: Blanco considers the figure of a single valve in Schmidt et al. (1874-1959: pl. 25: fig. 7 to be the holotype rather than the lectotype.
