General Environment
This is a marine species.

Description
Sporophyte macroscopic, epilithic, subtidal, solitary or sparse, simple, cord-shaped, 1.0-2.0 (-5.0) m in length and 1.5-3.5 mm in diameter, medium brown to dark brown, parenchymatous, hollow, composed of hypha, cortex, epidermis, and hairs, unicellular paraphyses without mucilagenous cap, and disc-shaped rhizoidal holdfast. Cortex dense composed of 4-8 cells. Unilocular sporangia sessile and narrowly ovate. Microscopic gametophytes dioecious, sexually dimorphic, oogamous. Antheridium solitary. Sporophytic as well as gametophytic cells containing many disc-shaped chloroplasts without pyrenoid. Nucleotide sequences of rbcL and ITS rDNA distinctive (ITS1 rDNA sequence AB263977).
