The type species (holotype) of the genus Chlorogonium is Chlorogonium euchlorum (Ehrenberg) Ehrenberg.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tabris heimii (Bourrelly) Nakada.

Adjective (Latin), pierced with holes or pores or sprinkled with translucent dots (Stearn 1973).
