Laminaria bongardiana f. subsessilis ( )
Laminaria bongardiana f. subsessilis (Areschoug) Kjellman 1889: 43
Published in: Kjellman, F.R. (1889). Om Beringhafvets algflora [About the Bering Sea algae]. Kongl. Svenska Vetenskaps-Akademiens Handlingar 23(8): 1-58, pls I-VII.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hedophyllum subsessile (Areschoug) Setchell
Type locality: Bering Island; Sitka (Silva 1996-to date). Lectotype: UPS A-823620 (Starko et al. 2018: 162, fig. 4). Notes: Accordng to Setchell (1901: 122, 123), Areschoug does not give the type locality but inferred that it was either Bering Island or Sitka. Setchell's specimens came from the Island of Amaknak in Unalaska Bay. Lectotype designated by Starko & S.C. Lindstrom. They note that this specimen is one of two of this form collected by Kjellman on Bering Island between Aug. 14 and 19, 1879. They consider the other specimen in UPS (A823624) to be a syntype.
