The type species (holotype) of the genus Chylocladia is Chylocladia kaliformis (Goodenough & Woodward) Hooker.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Champia zostericola (Harvey) Reedman & Womersley
Origin of species name
Adjective B (Latin), neighbouring, allied to, akin to (Stearn 1973).

This is a marine species.
Type locality: "GeorgeTown Gunn.." [NE Tasmania] (Hooker & Harvey 1847). Lectotype: On stems of Heterozostera (?). BM 000619421 (Reedman & Womersley 1976: 87). Notes: Reedman & Womersley (1976: 87) note that the general confusion between C. affinis and C. zostericola (or C. affinis var. arcuata) is probably largely due to Harvey in his Alg. Aust. Exsicc. listing 253H from Western Port. Vic. as C. affinis, whereas these specimens are typical C. zostericola.
