Type locality: Old Gulch, Lord Howe Island (Kraft 2009: 341). Holotype: G.W. Saunders & G.T. Kraft; 15 Mar. 2001; 10-30 cm subsurface in a mid-intertidal basalt pool on a flat promentory at the W entrance to the inlet. MELU LHI-12200 (Kraft 2009: 341). Notes: Isotype: MELU (6 sheets).
Named for G.W. Saunders, Canadian phycologist and molecular biologist.
