Type locality: Windermere, Cumbria, England; (Bock et al. 2010: 269) Holotype: Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa, Oban , Scotland; Cryopreserved material from the authentic strain CCAP 222/2D (Bock et al. 2010: 269) Notes: Isotype: Air-dried, as well as formaldehyde-fixed, samples of strain CCAP 222/2D were deposited at the Botanical Museum at Berlin-Dahlem under the designation B40 0040660.
