Type locality: Bantry Bay Type: Miss Ellen Hutchins; BM (Kim, Maggs, McIvor & Guiry 2000: 85). Notes: Annotated by Miss Hutchins “I think that you will find this only a variety of C. stricta [Conferva stricta]: it grows in deep water.” She also noted that this or other material weas found on the stalks of Fucus digitatus [Laminaria hyperborea].
