Lectotype locality: Berwick-upon Tweed, Northumberland, England (Chamberlain & Irvine 1994: 61). Lectotype: E.A.L. Batters; March 1896; on Laminaria. TRH A2-74 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 32). Notes: Chamberlain and Irvine (1994) recommend consulting Adey & Lebednik (1967: 67); Adey, (1970: 5); Chamberlain et al. (1988: 178) for further information on the lectotype of this species.
