Nomenclatural notes
Invalid: This binomial has appeared in Lobban & Tsuda (2003: 64) and in Tsuda (2003: 27) with purported authorship of "(C. Agardh) Kylin". But there is no evidence that Kylin ever validated that binomial. The epithet "corallis" is an error traceable to Okamura (1916, Bot Mag., Tokyo 30: 9), who erroneously listed the name "Gymnosorus corralis (Ag.) J. Ag.", with the basionym Zonaria collaris Ag. That misspelled epithet has been picked up by several authors. Zonaria collaris C. Agardh (1820) is a taxonomic synonym of Lobophora variegata (J.V. Lamouroux) Womersley ex E.C. Oliveira (M. Wynne, 17 Feb. 2012). - (17 Feb 2012) - M.D. Guiry
