Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Aulacoseira is Melosira crenulata (Ehrenberg) Kützing.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Alveolophora hachiyaensis (H.Tanaka) Houk, R.Klee & H.Tanaka .
