Type locality: LTER-MareChiara (40º48' 50"N, 14º15'0"E), Gulf of Naples, Italy (South Tyrrhenian Sea, Mediterranean Sea) (Percopo et al. 2013: 953). Holotype: Fig 2A: marine phytoplankton. SZN Museum SEM stub N. 2211-5 (Percopo et al. 2013: 953). Notes: Isotype: formalin fixed sample strain SZN-B848, deposited at the SZN Museum.
