The type species (holotype) of the genus Sorospora is Sorospora montana (Lightfoot) Hassall.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Aphanocapsa parietina Nägeli.

Origin of Species Name
Participle (Latin), becoming green (Stearn 1973).
