Type locality: Central Plains Experimental Research site, near Fort Collins, Colorado, USA; (Pietrasiak et al. 2014: 534) Holotype: Holotype; short-grassed prairie soils; BRY; 37763 (unialgal population of the reference strain preserved in 4% formaldehyde) (Pietrasiak et al. 2014: 534) Notes: Isotype: unialgal populations of the reference strain dried on filter paper. Reference strain: CPER-KK1; CCALA 1031.
