According to Moestrup & Calado (2018: 282), "Peridinium pseudointermedium Couté & A. Iltis (1984, p. 55, pl. II, figs 1-4, pl. VI, figs 32-34; "pseudo-intermedium") differs in having a slightly smaller maximum size (cell length 36-40 µm, width 30-33 %u03BCm) and in lacking the posterior intercalary plate that was originally interpreted to be present in Thompsodinium.
