This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Plocamium mertensii (Greville) Harvey
TYpe locality: Ad litus occidentale Novae Hollandiae [Western Australia] & ad Caput Bonae Spei [Cape of Good Hope] : unde specimina dederunt Desfontaines & Gaudichaud. (Agardh 1822: 181). Notes: A lectotype locality of Western Australia was first selected by J.Agardh (1841: 10-11).
