Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Desmodesmus regularis (L.Ș.Péterfi) E.H.Hegewald & P.Vanormelingen.
Type Information
Type locality: "piscinas eutrophicas Bohemia meridionali prope oppidum T?ebo?" [Czechia]; (Fott & Komárek 1974: 207) Notes: "... the type strain of Tetradesmus crocinii is identified as '1962/35.' This strain is currently sold by the SAG culture collection as SAG 24.95 Tetradesmus cumbricus. On the SAG culture collection website, the detailed information page of SAG 24.95 confirms that the original strain is '1962/35' and that the isolator is J. Komárek" (Hyeonshik Cho, pers. comm.).
