This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lemmermannia punctata (Schmidle) C.Bock & Krienitz.

Type locality: Plankton aus dem Altrhein von Roxheim; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype: pl. VI: figs 13, 14 in Schmidle 1900 (designated by Komárek 1974): material of the strain SAG 25.81 cryopreserved at the SAG Culture Collection Gottingen, Germany (designated in Bochner et al. 2013: 337).
