Type locality: Marouba Bay, New South Wales, Australia (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 132). Holotype: (Tronchin, Freshwater & Bolton 2003: 82).

Adjective (Latin), pectinate, with narrow close-set divisions like a comb (Stearn 1973).
