Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), siliquose (Stearn 1973).
Ceramium strictum f. acrocarpum G.Mazoyer 1938
When G.Mazoyer (1938: 326) described Ceramium strictum var. zostericola f. acrocarpum, she quoted as basionym Hormoceras acrocarpum Kützing 1863: XIII, 1. But, since that name is illegitimate being a later homonym of Hormoceras acrocarpum Zanardini ex Frauenfeld (1855: 42), Ceramium strictum f. acrocarpum has to be accredited to only G.Mazoyer (Furnari et al., 1999). Furnari et al. (2003) cite the authority for this species as (Feldmann-Mazoyer) G. Furnari.
This is a marine species.
