The type species (holotype) of the genus Crassiphycus is Crassiphycus corneus (J.Agardh) Gurgel, J.N.Norris & Fredericq.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gracilaria changii (B.M.Xia & I.A.Abbott) I.A.Abbott, J.Zhang & B.M.Xia.
