This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Choaspis.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Sirogonium sticticum (Smith) Kützing.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective A (Latin), snake-like, i.e., bent forwards and backwards into a wavy line; growing on serpentine rock (Stearn 1973).
