The type species (lectotype) of the genus Liagora is Liagora viscida (Forsskål) C.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gloiocallis dendroidea (P.Crouan & H.Crouan) Showe M.Lin, Huisman & D.L.Ballantine.
