Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Crodelia is Crodelia expansa (Philippi) Kylin.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithophyllum orbiculatum (Foslie) Foslie.

Areschoug (S); TRH; A6-285 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 56) Notes: Lectotype locality fide Adey & Lebednik, 1967: 21 and Woelkerling, 1993: 164 (Silva et al. 1996: 249). "Ekman; [Norway]; Kristiansund; [no habitat data]; [no date]; slide 207; ex herb. Aresch. Riksmus. Stockholm [S]; pfa: Foslie 1895a, pl. 22, fig. 10; [Note: Lectotype of Lithothamnion orbiculatum Foslie. Additional data — Chamberlain, Irvine & Waker 1991: 150, and Woelkerling 1993: 164 (who mistakenly lists collector as ‘Eckman’). Box marked ‘største stk. af ekspl. tilbagesendt Riksmus. Stholm [= largest piece of specimen returned to Riksmuseum Stockholm (S)]’. No collection date is on box, but protologue indicates sample was collected in 1855. Collection includes annotation slip from M. Lemoine dated 'iii.1984' that reads: 'the anatomy of this specimen is not like that of "Lpm. orbiculatum” as described by Adey 1966 (Hydrobiologia XXVII). Foslie’s plant is more like Lpm. incrustans Philippi’];" Woelkering et al. (2005: 56)
