The type species (holotype) of the genus Calidia is Calidia pseudolobata L.-E.Yang, J.Brodie & Q.-Q.Lu.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pyropia vietnamensis (Tak.Tanaka & P.H.Hô) J.E.Sutherland & Monotilla.
